Are you about to embark on one of the most exciting and daring adventures of your life? I hope so! Let’s find out!
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. " Hellen Keller
The Dictionary defines adventure as: 'an unusual and exciting or daring experience'. Another definition says: 'It is all about gaining new experiences, and becoming closer to the natural world'. Jon Levy suggests that an experience should meet several criteria to be considered an adventure:
I think that getting ‘married’ certainly fits the bill here and an Adventure Wedding definitely has elements of all these statements included.
An adventure wedding isn't about themes and colour-schemes although you may have one. It's all about having an unforgettable experience. Your wedding day should celebrate who you are as a couple and what you enjoy doing together. This after all will be your most exciting and daring adventure yet. By having a Celebrant-led Boho-inspired wedding day you will be able to say your vows to each other in any place you want, day or night, in a way that means something personal and meaningful to you.
You can have a ceremony that’s all about U
- unique, unusual, unconventional and the best one... UNBORING!
So here are my top tips to add some fun and adventure into your day.
“ I’ve fallen in love with adventures, so I begin to wonder, if that’s why I’ve fallen for you.” E. Grin
Have you thought about having a ‘woodland wedding’? Hire lots of tall trees and shrubs from a local supplier to place in your back garden and create your own woodland setting. Having a few hale bales, blankets, cushions etc can create a similar setting without the travel costs. Hang lanterns from the branches and order a lovely hamper of tasty treats for you both to enjoy. If you wanted to have your Adventure Elopement or small wedding in a foreign country, what are the foods and drinks, colours, decor, fragrances that remind you of it. Are you able to replicate any of it in your hometown? Signs, posters, fabrics and other decor can infuse your setting with a touch of your original dream wedding setting for 15 people that includes everything you need to style your setting beautifully.
And don't forget with the wonders of modern technology you can even have a ‘zoom ceremony’ and have your wild elopement adventure wedding later- 2 different adventures, 1 love story!
‘ It doesn't matter where you’re going, it’s who you have beside you ’.
Because you wont need to live through months of choosing your stationary, creating table plans and deciding on a wedding menu, you will save yourselves all the ‘overwhelm’, stress and your budget will love you too!! That’s the beauty of adventure weddings. They really are all about you and in the slightly tweaked words of Lewis Carroll - “Actually, the best gift you can give each other is a lifetime of adventures.” and having a boho-inspired adventure wedding makes sure your journey of love continues to be a beautiful never-ending adventure...together!
“ As soon as I saw you I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.”
I hope you find these tips useful and they inspire you to add a dash of adventure into your special day. So remember, season, activity, location, travel/transport, thinking outside the box and knowing that it’s all about you and what you love will not only add meaning to your wedding, it will also keep your adventure alive!
Your checklist- Is it worth getting excited about because it’s unique, daring with a (safe) level of risk, offers you new experiences (like getting married! that will definitely bring about personal growth) and lastly, bring you closer to nature. If the answer is YES!
You’ve got yourself an ADVENTURE WEDDING!

1) What was the inspiration for this shoot?
The beautifully romantic story of elopement, inspired this team to create a dramatic story entirely different from the usual. With a heavy nod towards the drama and mood of the Victorian era including a mix of simple elegant and luxurious fine details to the heavy use of decadent dried foliage displays. All with a heavy inspiration of William Morris’ theatrical home décor work who was once quoted as saying ‘There is no excuse for doing anything which is not strikingly beautiful’.
